Best Foot Forward: Engaging Reticent Consumer with Holistic Podiatric Care

Thursday, May 17, 2018: 10:15 AM-11:15 AM
Greenway BC/HI (Hyatt Regency Minneapolis)
People experiencing homeless are particularly susceptible to poor foot health. In addition to the obvious health consequences of poor foot health, there is an emotional and mental health toll. A foot soak may seem simple, but it is a restorative act.  A holistic foot clinic utilizes volunteers across all health professions and from the community to provide a non-threatening avenue to engage people who may normally be reluctant to accept services. It provides a relaxed and safe space to discuss other health care needs and relevant services, and creates greater awareness about health disparities experienced among individuals experiencing homelessness.
Speakers:
Lydia A Williams, FNP-BC, CWOCN (Nurse Practitioner, Public Health Management Corporation)
Casey Alrich, MPH, CPHIMS (Director, Practice Transformation and Quality Improvement, National Nurse-Led Care Consortium and Board Member, Best Foot Forward Philly)
