The Santa Clara Medical Respite Program implemented integrated weekly Vivitrol group visits for clients with alcohol use disorders who are eligible for, or receiving, IM extended release naltrexone (Vivitrolâ„¢) to coordinate the interdisciplinary education, care, and support, encourage peer support, provide psychoeducation and skill building, engage clients following discharge, ensure ongoing receipt of IM naltrexone, and facilitate referrals for substance use treatment. Here we will discuss the development of the group, client engagement, retention, and referrals, provide client perspectives on group and motivation to attend and discuss specific client examples to highlight successes and ongoing barriers of this intervention.
