By 2012 drug overdose was the leading cause of death for BHCHPs clients age 21-44. Among other interventions, the practice implemented evidence based prescribing guidelines and EMR decision supports to promote the safe prescribing of opioids when done as part of a patient’s treatment plan.  What impact did this have on opioid prescribing by the practice?  This project describes the trends in opioid prescribing by BHCHP from 2005-2015.  Prescriptions were converted to morphine equivalents for comparison.  A substantial decline occurred from 2010-11, prior to the implementation of guidelines and decision supports.
